    Ingredients

    The ingredients needed to make Hyderabadi Mirchi Bhajji:

    1. Prepare 5-6 fresh red / green chilies
    2. Get 3 tbsp peanuts
    3. Get 2 tbsp sesame seeds
    4. Get 2 tbsp roasted chana dal (Bengal gram)
    5. Get 1 tsp tamarind paste
    6. Get to taste salt
    7. Prepare 1 tsp curry leaves powder (opt)
    8. Make ready 1 cup besan (gram flour)
    9. Prepare pinch soda bicarb
    10. Get 1/2 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
    11. Prepare 1 tsp lemon juice
    12. Get oil to deep fry

    Mirchi Bajji (chili cutlet) or Mirchi Bada is a spicy Indian snack consisting of chili (mirchi ) and potato or cauliflower stuffing battered and fried. Mirchi bajji is a popular street side snack mostly found in the streets of south india or andhra regions. The mirapakaya bajji is an all time favorite snack. Mirchi bajji also known as mirapayakay bajji are a popular street food made by batter frying green chilies until crisp.


    Instructions

    Instructions to make Hyderabadi Mirchi Bhajji:

    1. Wash the chilies and slit it lengthwise. Scoop out the seeds with a small spoon. Smear it with salt and lemon juice and keep aside for 10-15 minutes.
    2. Make a thick batter with besan, salt, soda bicarb, ajwain and required quantity of water. Set aside.
    3. Wash the chilies again. For the filling, roast the peanuts and sesame seeds till light brown. Cool and grind along with the fried chana dal, tamarind paste, salt, curry leaves powder and little water into a paste. Keep aside.
    4. Fill this stuffing in the slit chilies. Set them aside. Heat oil in a pan. Dip the chilies in the batter and deep fry them to a golden colour.
    5. Let the flame be low in the entire process. Drain on a kitchen towel and serve hot with sauce or any chutney.
