Heat oil and add the whole spices. Fry for a minute and then add the sliced onions. Add in the ginger garlic paste and saute on a low to medium high heat for 3-4 minutes until the onions are lightly browned.
Add mint leaves and slit green chillies too. Add in the Green Peas and stir fry for a minute or two before adding 8 cups of water. Adjust salt according to taste and let the water boil.
