    South Indian Tamilnadu style white coconut chutney. For grinding the chutney Coconut chutney is ground raw with other ingredients to which a tempering / tadka is added. To get a bright red colored tomato or onion chutneys, use Byadgi red chilli variety. I make coconut chutney with green chillies mostly, but learnt this from my MIL as she makes it often.

    1. Red chutney : In a mixie jar add together the chopped coconut, red chilli paste, curry leaves, ginger, garlic, vinegar, salt, roasted chana and food colour.
    2. White chutney : In a mixie jar take together the chopped coconut, garlic, green chillies, salt and pepper.
    3. Grind everything to a smooth paste by adding little water for the red chutney. For the white chutney grind the ingredients roughly and then add the curd and grind to a smooth paste.
    4. For the tempering: Heat oil in a pan. Add the mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chillies. Let them splutter. Pour over the red and white chutneys. Enjoy!
